This is my preliminary task school magazine contents page. I did a small amount of research into the typical 'look' of school magazine contents pages but decided to ask a little twist. This was why I chose to have a brick wall as my background image. I tried to stick to some conventions I have learnt when designing my school magazine front cover.
The brick wall inspired me because I felt it made the magazine seem a bit more interesting after the plain black background I used for my front cover. I chose a white font again, sticking to colourscheme and to help make it more readable I added a black border around the font as I felt it emphasised the writing a little more.
One of the conventions I used was making the masthead significantly bigger than the rest of the font, this is because it the typical thing to do when wanting to attract an audience. I chose to use white again as, after experimenting with plenty of other colours I found this was the most readable. I used the same font as I did on my cover, trying to keep it consistent.
I felt that keeping the font consistent throughout was typical of a school magazine as this is what students do when writing their work down. The font 'comic sans' was good to use as it was clear and quite similar to handwriting. I used numbers before writing the feature as it highlighted to the reader what page they needed to go to before reading the article.
I tried to keep the image bright by asking the model to wear something which stands out, as I didn't want the white font to get boring for the reader.
Over all, I would say I am quite pleased with my contents page as it follows some magazine conventions and uses a lot of consistency with my front cover. Having said this, I know there is plenty of room for improvement which I can show when I make my main task!
