Conventions of a Pop Magazine Front Cover

All magazines have different housestyles altogether, however they all have the same conventions;


  • Title - this is generally at the top of the page and in large, eye-catching font.
  • Sell-line - this can be anywhere on the cover, most put it directly under the title so that the reader will pay more attention to the magazine
  • Image - this covers most of the page, it has to catch the readers attention and more sell-lines are placed around it
  • Boost - there can be more than one boost and these include features of the magazine which are made to draw the audience in
  • Bar code - this is normally at the bottom of the page and is small so that it doesn't take up too much room on the page
