Focus Group

I thought that a focus group would be a great way to find out what my target audience would love to see in my magazine. I asked 4 small groups of girls of the same ages, 13, 14, 15, 16, as this is the age I have chosen to aim my magazine at. This seemed the most fair way of including some things which each of the ages included in my audience would want in my music magazine.

These are the things they all said;

13 year olds;

• wanted a female celebrity featured on the front cover
• competitions
• quizzes
• games
• list of chart songs
• some said an 'oops' section where people can write in to tell their embarrassing moments

14 year olds;

• agony aunt 
• boy advice
• quizzes&competitions
• interviews of celebrities
• posters
• chart music

15 year olds;

• new and upcoming artists
• celebrity advice
• competitions 
• agony aunt
• boy gossip
• chart updates of the week
• fashion page

16 year olds;

• features on boy bands/solo artists
• where to buy actual items celebrities are wearing
• Interviews
• competitions
• what's hot(fashion wise)
• agony aunt
• chart songs

I found that competitions appeared in not just one age group so this  will definitely appear in my magazine.
